We are now sat in the airport transit lounge. We have 5 hours to wait for our connection, but David has already found a McDonalds and Vanessa is sitting down with a Costa Coffee......we could still be in Bournemouth !!
Our day started bright an early with aircraft flying directly over the Travelodge, but it was good as we had to be at the airport for 7:30am. Vanessa wanted to get there earlier, but as we only had 2 miles to travel, the rest of us talked her into a 6:00 wake up call. At least we would get there early enough to get some breakfast.....or so we thought!
As we got to the security check of hand luggage David’s bag was taken aside with obviously something highly dangerous in it. This resulted in an hour’s delay whilst we waited nervously wondering what could have caused David’s bag to be taken aside for special treatment. The offending article turned out to be the highly dangerous “hand cream” David had forgotten HE had packed in the bottom of his bag. This left us very stressed, very hungry (as there was now no time for breakfast) and running for our flight.
So there we were on the plane; a fairly uneventful flight with good inflight movies, although these were slightly spoiled by intermittent sound. I was accused of flirting with the air hostesses, but through my charm we were landed with extra helpings of cheese, crackers and cake, i have been told to use my talents on this trip and it is clear I have already started.....Well they always say “If you’ve got it, flaunt it!” – it must be my toned physique!!!
Vanessa is regretting having a large Costa coffee as we have just discovered that the particular toilets in our lounge are glorified holes in the ground!! The rest of the airport is pretty good and thankfully air conditioned as it was 37˚C when we landed at 6.30pm....it was like walking into a tumble dryer!
Only 2 hours until our connecting flight to Addis Ababa...we can’t wait to get there now!
